Who is Glen Sorenson?

Wilderness Snow Journeys began for me over forty years ago when I first spent a night out in the snow. Since then I have spent countless nights in igloos, snow caves, tents, under the stars, and in heated canvas tents. Most of my winter adventures have been in the beautiful Boundary Waters Canoe Area in northern Minnesota, north of Grand Marais.

Another passion of mine is canoeing in the wilderness. I have paddled in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Ontario, Quebec, Northwest Territories, and Nunavut, exploring many thousands of miles on lakes, rivers, and northern oceans.

The classroom has been a great adventure for me also; teaching biology, anatomy, and outdoor science has been a great joy. The outdoors has been my classroom throughout my career. My teaching experiences also extended to England and Czech Republic where I taught biology and english under Fulbright Exchanges. In 2002 I was awarded a $10,000 grant from Toyota Corporation to start up an outdoor science class. My latest adventure was in 2005 when I was picked as the Minnesota Teacher of the Year and was able to travel all over the state and the nation sharing my love of science and teaching with students, teachers, politicians, and business groups.

The greatest adventure of all for me was being able to share all of my adventures with family and friends. As a newly retired educator and longtime adventurer, now I would like to share my love of winter wilderness with you.
